Terms

What you agree to by using Echo Æternum.

Your account

One person, one phone number, one account. By signing in you confirm you’re old enough to consent to the use of a phone-verified service where you live — at minimum 13, older where your jurisdiction requires it.

Keep your phone secure. Sign-in goes through a 6-digit code texted to your number; if you lose access to that number, you lose access to the account.

What you keep, what we keep

You own everything you leave in an Echo — your photos, video, voice, words, all of it. By uploading, you grant us permission to store and serve that content back to you and the audience you chose. No other rights — we don’t use your media for promotion, marketing, or AI training.

We own the app itself: the brand, the code, the design, the database structure. None of that transfers when you sign up.

What you can't do

The short list of things that will get an account closed:

  • Uploading content that isn’t yours, or that you don’t have permission from the people in it to share.
  • Pinning Echoes in places intended to harass, intimidate, or stalk someone.
  • Content that’s illegal where you are or where we’re hosted: child sexual abuse material, credible threats, doxxing, that family.
  • Trying to scrape, reverse-engineer, or attack the service. Bug reports are welcome — disclose responsibly.

Public Echoes

If you mark an Echo Public, you understand it can be seen by anyone with the app. Don’t mark something Public you wouldn’t want a stranger walking past your pin to find. Most Echoes should not be Public; the default audience is Private for a reason.

Pro tier

Some features sit behind a paid Pro tier (larger storage cap, higher per-Echo limits, the downloadable viewer). Subscriptions auto-renew on the cadence you chose until you cancel. Cancel any time; you keep Pro until the end of the period you already paid for.

If we materially change Pro’s contents (removing a feature you specifically paid for), we’ll tell you and refund the unused portion.

The service may change

We’ll add features, retire features, and rework screens. We try not to break things people care about without a warning. If we deprecate a capture format or change how audiences work, we’ll explain it in-app before the change lands.

If we shut down

The product’s premise is that your memories outlast us. If Echo Æternum the company ever goes away, the Downloadable Echo Viewer (see The promise) is how we honor that. The viewer is your data, plus the code to play it, in one folder. It works without us, on any computer, forever.

We can’t guarantee the company exists in fifty years. We can guarantee that what we’ve already handed you continues to work.

No warranty, sensible limits

The service is provided as-is. We try hard to keep things running and your data safe, but we can’t promise zero downtime, zero bugs, or zero data loss. Don’t rely on the app as the only copy of something irreplaceable — keep originals.

To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to what you’ve paid us in the last twelve months. If you’re on the free tier, that’s zero.

Changes to these terms

We’ll post material changes in-app and bump the effective date below. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the new terms. If you disagree, you can delete your account from Edit profile — your data comes with you.
